NOTE: Choosing total recording capacity: Standard or Real-time. Standard Cards record at 30 fps (frames per second) shared for 4 cameras but have intelligent resource sharing that distributes fps capacity based on cameras activated by motion if so set; Real-time Cards feature 30 fps, which is real-time recording. The lower the fps, the more choppy your image. Remote surviellance fps playback varies, and ultimatley depends on your connection speed at both ends. Also, real-time recording will use maximum hard drive space. If you are recording on a 24 hour basis, or non-motion, that too will use more hard drive space. NOTE: The 8, 12, and 16 port systems are based on stacked 4 port cards. Meaning the 8 port contains 2 capture cards requiring 2 open PCI slots, the 12 port contains 3 capture cards requiring 3 open PCI slots, the 16 port requires 4 capture cards requiring 4 open PCI slots on your computer.
